General Academics

Most families reach out when something isn’t quite working—homework is taking too long, gaps are starting to show, or the work suddenly feels harder than it should. I begin by understanding the full picture, then address the actual bottleneck so progress can begin right away.

What I cover (K–8)

For grade 9 and above I focus on writing and the reading/writing sections of standardized exams.

How we work together

I start with a conversation with you, then carefully assess where your child is. The most common situations I see are:

Together we create a plan with clear goals, that stays aligned with school expectations. I send you brief weekly updates so you always know how things are going.

Sessions are one hour minimum. Materials are provided. The convenience of in-home tutoring (or virtual when preferred) combined with a consistent tutor who builds a genuine relationship is what most parents tell me makes the difference.

Getting ready for Gifted and Talented screening?
Most schools open the referral window during the first marking period and conduct testing at the beginning of the second marking period (typically November). I help families prepare on that timeline—calmly and effectively.

I’m Amie Beal, a classical private tutor and homeschool consultant with more than 23 years of experience. I bring core subjects—phonics, composition, mathematics, history, and science—to life through clear, structured lessons designed to help students reach mastery and develop the habits of independent thought.
